No Greenwash
One of the many things that sets us apart from other design agencies, is our approach to sustainability. To us it is more than mere greenwash, in fact sustainability is on the agenda in everything we do here at Zero Above. We were pleased to be winners of the 2011 Essex and Colchester Business Award Environmental Awareness Awards which for us is a huge reward of recognition for all our efforts so far, and we won’t stop there!
More and more businesses are starting to realise its time to take action, begin the transition to a greener, better way of working and its good to hear.
Our approach to being sustainable brings together a service that employs green design and production methods, carbon offsetting, sharing knowledge and insight combined with a commitment to monitoring and adapting our ways of working to minimise our impact on the environment.
We have a four pronged attack in our attempts to be Carbon Neutral:
We Measure
Annual assessments completed each November calculate the carbon footprint associated with emissions across our business including business travel, energy consumption and waste produced.
We Target
Our targets are created to be improved on and we have them in place for travel, energy usage and recycling. Nothing gets past Rik James our Business Partner when it comes to keeping up to speed with our performance.
We Reduce
We have put processes in place to reduce emissions to net zero through a combination of external and internal emissions reductions. In collaboration with the Woodland Trust with whom we have a corporate partnership, we are carbon offsetting, enabling us to counter-balance each tonne of CO2 we produce with a tonne saved by a validated emissions reduction project that has met international standards.
The internal reductions are both operational and behavioral, from changing all the lighting to low energy LED and putting in place recycling facilities.
We Communicate
Each year we communicate our progress as we aim for the Carbon Neutral certification mark. In addition to this, our Strategy Partner Simon Isaac is a regular speaker with the Chamber of Commerce and the Suffolk Low Carbon Champion Scheme on all matters concerning green marketing.
